Social media reacts to UNC football’s lackluster play against NC State
The North Carolina football program was in action Saturday night for a showdown against NC State, and the rough night had social media up in arms.
Not only did UNC appear to be fighting for a momentum shift, but it was apparent the field also caused a battle for the players. Throughout the night, many things were questioned on social media, one of the biggest being why the field appeared to do so much damage despite the clear forecast.
Spectators on social media called for the field to be investigated while others suggested the team change their cleats. One thing is for sure, getting down 23-0 wasn’t a great start, especially with the lack of emotion UNC was showing.
Sadly, it would only get worse for the Tar Heels as NC State started to pour it on. The Tar Heels were able to shut down the Wolfpack offense in the 4th quarter, but the damage was already done, with NC State taking the win 39-20.
A disappointing loss to end the regular season that has fans wanting staff changes. Let’s look at how social media reacted to UNC losing to NC State.
I already know this game is going to drive me insane

Can someone with more experience than me watching both these teams tell me what’s a more helpless feeling: watching the UNC defense or watching the USC defense?
From the games I’ve seen, I can’t remember a time I ever felt UNC would get a stop.— Dan Schneier (@DanSchneierNFL) November 26, 2023
Getting the feeling UNC is not going to be in the game long enough to break anyone’s heart.

That was almost a disastrous sequence of events for UNC
— Graham Hill (@GrahamHill98) November 26, 2023
Gonna be that kind of night for UNC. Team has no composure.

Carolina looks like it’s playing its first game of the season. Completely unprepared and unfocused.

the difference in coaching between State and UNC is unreal. State shows up ready every year

Who chose the spikes on UNC’s cleats?
— David Carter (@tarheeldave95) November 26, 2023
Love ya UNC Football, but I might need to take a breather after that fumble and put on some random college basketball games for a few.

So UNC just wants to slip all over the field huh
— Ethan Rosenberg (@EthRosenberg) November 26, 2023
This team is more worried about pushing and shoving after the play than the actual play.

Did state water the field tell all their guys to wear long spikes?
— Great Day Tar Heel (@GreatDayTarHeel) November 26, 2023
Okay UNC defense and offense need a reality check. Figure it out and coaches, change things up.
— Mike Curmi (@MikeCurmi) November 26, 2023
I have a hunch that UNC’s equipment team will be busy swapping out cleats at halftime.
UNC is playing like their spikes are too short.

Why can’t we stand up?! Was it not clear during warm ups that we couldn’t get any traction?! #UNC

No pressure, no coverage, no fight, no effort, no coaching, NOTHING
— UNC Barstool (@UNCBarstool) November 26, 2023
That this wholly predictable #UNC performance is actually happening, in such a crucial game, is just unfathomable. Not sure how you can’t point at the staff.

NC State looks like they’re playing the Harlem Globetrotters

NC state is really Mike tyson beating Carolina right now… that GA tech loss really snapped UNC spirit hasn't looked right ever since.

UNC players either don’t want to play for this staff or they are woefully ill prepared, or both. All options are not good.
— Mark Armstrong (@MarkPArmstrong) November 26, 2023
Our defense can't stop nothing, so our offense thinks the best option is to give them more practice.
— Clutch Sports: UNC (@ClutchSportsUNC) November 26, 2023
UNC is playing with no heart at all. We deserve every bit of trolling heading our way.
— Rello_Golden (@Rello_Golden) November 26, 2023
They are completely unprepared for and overwhelmed by the moment.

It's seems like Drake Maye's last ever pass as a Tar Heel is a tipped interception. Terrible send off for a generational player. Quite poetic considering UNC has wasted two back to back incredible quarterbacks.
