Social Media reacts to Texas A&M's 23-13 loss to Notre Dame to open the 2024 season
This game went just about how everyone predicted it would. It was a knockdown, drag-out defensive battle between two determined teams with something to prove. It was Notre Dame's night as they pulled away late to defeat Texas A&M 23-13.
One of the game's surprises was how well the Notre Dame offensive line held up against an extremely talented A&M front seven. A big key to that was Notre Dame's smart game plan: getting rid of the ball quickly and using different run looks. The Aggies' defense looked the part most of the game, holding the Fighting Irish to under 20 points for most of the contest.
However, Conner Weigman and the wide receivers never got on the same page the whole game. Weigman who is known for taking care of the ball had his worst game of this college career. He threw two interceptions and only averaged 3.3 yards a pass.
Overall, playing a top 10 team this early in the season shows the Aggies where they need to get to if they want to be in the running for a college football playoff spot. Below you can check out the social media reactions to the Texas A&M loss to Notre Dame.
This was the common theme floating on the internet
Weigman looked lost. The WRs couldn't get open. Way too many mistakes. And the ND defense is legit.
Disappointing all the way around for the A&M offense. https://t.co/EvLdkQPQt8— Dane Brugler (@dpbrugler) September 1, 2024
The offense and defense are miles apart at the moment
Not sure if I’m as upset about the loss as I am the way we played on offense

Conner had a rough night in the office
We probably need to have the Conner Weigman vs. good competition conversation, cause this was BEFORE tonight.... pic.twitter.com/b5hS430KX6

There is still a long way to go but the problems are glaring
It’s just Game 1
But Texas A&M absolutely wasted a huge opportunity tonight on the national stage in front of an incredible home atmosphere
QB play was rough and play calling left a lot to be desired…STILL
Long way to go#BTHOmcneese— Tim England (@tengland_150) September 1, 2024
The offense did not help the defense tonight; that's for sure
Conner's gotta play better. Can't get the yips in game one of the season. I think if we flip Notre Dame and McNeese he works out the kinks, but you live with your schedule. Defense looks good, but you've gotta play complimentary football.

This will be the only question for the next week
I think offensive play-calling and Conner Weigman will be the main talking points about this game.
