Social media reacts to BYU students being asked to remove ‘Horns Down’ T-shirts at men’s basketball game
The University of Texas is back at it again!
In the latest installment of the Longhorns getting butthurt over minor matters, we travel to Provo, Utah to check in on a men’s basketball game that was played this afternoon.
No. 21 Brigham Young University defeated Texas by a final score of 84-72 on Saturday. During the game, nine Cougars students wore T-shirts with individual letters that spelled out “HORNS DOWN,” taking a shot at the Longhorns.
BYU head coach Mark Pope said “That’s just not us.” about the shirts following the game. pic.twitter.com/ACeH9dYsJ4

As noted by BYU insider Mitch Harper of KSL Sports, during the first media timeout Saturday, those students were asked to remove their shirts. This comes 10 days after the University of Central Florida beat the Longhorns 77-71 in Austin and understandably after an upset, some Knights players displayed horns down.
Texas coach Rodney Terry was upset by the gesture postgame, so of course fans at an opposing arena were going to poke fun at the Longhorns this weekend when given the opportunity.
Social media had a field day with this topic so let’s check out some of the best reactions below.

Charmin soft
This is embarrassingly soft. My only hope is that the BYU admin made the decision and it wasn’t requested by Texas… STILL soft either way. This is friendly banter and not harmful in any way. Literally why it’s home court advantage.

IDGI either
I don’t understand what makes horns down so incredibly offensive and sacred that people can’t playfully tease them about it.

2-way street
If they can do horns up, why can’t others do horns down? The sentiment behind each is the same

Preach, Sean!
The university of Texas does not represent the toughness on display right now throughout the rest of the state.
