Shohei Ohtani hits massive three-run home run for Dodgers in playoff debut

LOS ANGELES — Shohei Ohtani made his introduction to the playoff in style.

After flying out on his first at-bat of the game, the Los Angeles Dodgers slugger came up to the plate in the bottom of the second inning trailing the San Diego Padres 3-0 with Will Smith and Gavin Lux on base.

On the fourth pitch of the at-bat, Ohtani hit a rocket that was 96 miles per hour off the bat that went into the right field pavilion to tie the game 3-3. Ohtani knew it was a homer right away and threw his bat in celebration as he sent the Dodger Stadium crowd into a frenzy.

Ohtani is playing in his first playoff game of his seven-year big league career. He's already had a breakout season in his first year with the Dodgers as he became the first MLB player to achieve 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in a single season.
