See Lucas Glover win FedEx St. Jude Championship in playoff after Patrick Cantlay hits into the water
Patrick Cantlay's chances to win the FedEx St. Jude Championship ended as soon as he hit his tee shot on the first playoff hole on Sunday, the 18th hole at TPC Southwind.
Cantlay's tee shot ran into the water along the left side of the hole, opening the door for Lucas Glover to make a simple par to win the PGA Tour tournament in Memphis.
Glover made it back-to-back wins after winning the Wyndham Championship last week. He moved from outside the FedEx Cup playoffs cutline before last week to 4th in the standings with two tournaments remaining.
First, here is Cantlay's tee shot. The ball landed on grass along the lake but had too much pace to stay dry.

Glover hit a 3-wood into the fairway, then hit a 9-iron on approach to about 22 feet. Cantlay dropped and hit his third shot to an almost identical spot as Glover's ball.
Glover's birdie chance was inches left but had good speed, so he tapped in for par. Cantlay's miracle par chances led to this putt, which just slipped by the right edge of the hole.

Glover led after the second and third rounds, while Cantlay started Sunday five strokes behind the leader. Cantlay shot 6-under 64 to get into position to steal the win as Glover made long putts to save par on No. 13 and bogey on No. 14 following a tee shot in the water. Glover birdied No. 15 to get back to 15-under and equaled Cantlay's score in regulation.
Then came the first playoff hole.
