SEC Power Rankings: Texas A&M on the rise after Week 9 slate
After a loaded slate last weekend, SEC football was home to a few notable matchups during Week 9, headlined by a Top 25 showdown in places such as College Station, Tuscaloosa, and Nashville. Yes, there were three different Top 25 matchups in the SEC alone during Week 9.
However, one of those three was arguably bigger than the others, as the two lone SEC undefeated teams in conference play faced off in a game that was among college football's best during Week 9.
So, coming off this past weekend's action, here are our latest SEC football power rankings entering Week 10 of the 2024 season, starting with No. 16:
16. Mississippi State Bulldogs
Previous Ranking: No. 16
2024 Record: 1-7 overall (0-5 in SEC)
Week 9 Result: 58-25 loss vs. Arkansas
Week 10 Opponent: vs. Massachusetts
Mississippi State's struggles continued Saturday where they lost their seventh consecutive game via a 58-25 loss to Arkansas at home. The Bulldogs will host Massachusetts this week looking to snap that skid.
15. Kentucky Wildcats
Previous Ranking: No. 15
2024 Record: 3-5 overall (1-5 in SEC)
Week 9 Result: 24-10 loss vs. Auburn
Week 10 Opponent: at No. 7 Tennessee
The Kentucky Wildcats lost their third-straight game Saturday with a 24-10 loss to Auburn at home. Kentucky will now travel to Tennessee in Week 10.
14. Oklahoma Sooners
Previous Ranking: No. 13
2024 Record: 4-4 overall (1-4 in SEC)
Week 9 Result: 26-14 loss at No. 18 Ole Miss
Week 10 Opponent: vs. Maine
The Oklahoma Sooners' struggles continued in Week 9, as the program dropped their third-straight game with a 26-14 road loss at Ole Miss. Oklahoma will look to snap that three-game skid in Week 10 at home against Maine.
13. Auburn Tigers
Previous Ranking: No. 14
2024 Record: 3-5 overall (1-4 in SEC)
Week 9 Result: 24-10 win at Kentucky
Week 10 Opponent: vs. No. 25 Vanderbilt
The Auburn Tigers snapped a four-game losing streak Saturday with a 24-10 road win at Kentucky. Auburn will now return home in Week 10 to host the Vanderbilt Commodores.
12. Arkansas Razorbacks
Previous Ranking: No. 11
2024 Record: 5-3 overall (3-2 in SEC)
Week 9 Result: 58-25 win at Mississippi State
Week 10 Opponent: vs. No. 18 Ole Miss
Arkansas had one of their top offensive performances of the season Saturday afternoon, as the Razorbacks defeated Mississippi State in Starkville by a final score of 58-25. Looking ahead, the Razorbacks will play the other team from the state in Week 10 by hosting Ole Miss.
11. South Carolina Gamecocks
Previous Ranking: No. 12
2024 Record: 4-3 overall (2-3 in SEC)
Week 9 Result: BYE
Week 10 Opponent: vs. No. 14 Texas A&M
South Carolina was the first SEC team on a bye during Week 9, as the Gamecocks did not play. The Gamecocks will return to action in Week 10 at home as they host one of the conference's top teams in the Texas A&M Aggies.
10. Florida Gators
Previous Ranking: No. 10
2024 Record: 4-3 overall (2-2 in SEC)
Week 9 Result: BYE
Week 10 Opponent: vs. No. 2 Georgia in Jacksonville, Florida
Florida also did not play this past Saturday due to the Gators being on a bye week. The Gators are set to return this Saturday for a rivalry game against Georgia in Jacksonville, Florida.
9. Missouri Tigers
Previous Ranking: No. 8
2024 Record: 6-2 overall (2-2 in SEC)
Week 9 Result: 34-0 loss at No. 15 Alabama
Week 10 Opponent: BYE
Missouri struggled during Week 9, as the Tigers went to Tuscaloosa, and left with a 34-0 loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Tigers now enter a bye week at 6-2 overall, as well as 2-2 in the SEC.
8. Vanderbilt Commodores
Previous Ranking: No. 9
2024 Record: 5-3 overall (2-2 in SEC)
Week 9 Result: 27-24 loss vs. No. 5 Texas
Week 10 Opponent: at Auburn
Vanderbilt was a loser in a Top 25 matchup Saturday, falling at home to Texas in a close contest, 27-24. The Commodores now sit at 5-3 overall headed to Auburn later this week.
7. LSU Tigers

Week 9 Result: 38-23 loss at No. 14 Texas A&M
Week 10 Opponent: BYE
LSU was one of the biggest teams to fall this week after their 38-23 road loss at Texas A&M. The Tigers now enter their bye week at 6-2 overall, as well as 3-1 in SEC play.
6. Texas A&M Aggies
Previous Ranking: No. 7
2024 Record: 7-1 overall (5-0 in SEC)
Week 9 Result: 38-23 win vs. No. 8 LSU
Week 10 Opponent: at South Carolina
The Texas A&M Aggies picked up arguably the SEC's most impressive win during Week 9, topping the LSU Tigers at home by a final score of 38-23. In Week 10, Texas A&M will look to remain undefeated in SEC play on the road at South Carolina.
5. Ole Miss Rebels
Previous Ranking: No. 6
2024 Record: 6-2 overall (2-2 in SEC)
Week 9 Result: 26-14 win vs. Oklahoma
Week 10 Opponent: at Arkansas
Ole Miss bounced back from a difficult road loss a week ago with a 26-14 home win over Oklahoma. The Rebels will look to continue that success in Week 10 at Arkansas.
4. Alabama Crimson Tide
Previous Ranking: No. 5
2024 Record: 6-2 overall (3-2 in SEC)
Week 9 Result: 34-0 win vs. No. 21 Missouri
Week 10 Opponent: BYE
Alabama had an impressive performance during Week 9, as the Crimson Tide topped Missouri at home by a final score of 34-0. The Crimson Tide now enter their bye week at 6-2 overall, as well as 3-2 in SEC play.
3. Tennessee Volunteers
Previous Ranking: No. 4
2024 Record: 6-1 overall (3-1 in SEC)
Week 9 Result: BYE
Week 10 Opponent: vs. Kentucky
The Tennessee Volunteers did not play Saturday due to a bye week. Tennessee will return to action in Week 10 by hosting Kentucky.
2. Texas Longhorns

Texas was back in the win column Saturday with a 27-24 ranked road win at Vanderbilt. This result improved the Longhorns to 7-1 overall, as well as 3-1 in the SEC, entering their bye week.
