Seattle Seahawks draft picks 2023: Round-by-round selections
Here is a 2023 NFL draft pick-by-pick breakdown for the Seattle Seahawks:
Round 1 (No. 5 overall, from Broncos) — Devin Witherspoon, CB, Illinois: A tough-as-nails defensive back will be instantly welcomed into Pete Carroll's highly competitive environment. Witherspoon isn't afraid to stick his nose in the backfield when he's not disrupting opposing passing attacks – the All-Big Ten performer breaking up 23 passes over the past two seasons. The 6-foot 181-pounder joins Tariq Woolen and Coby Bryant, giving Seattle a talented young corner trio ... and perhaps the backbone of a new era "Legion of Boom." Draft tracker
Round 1 (20) — Jaxon Smith-Njigba, WR, Ohio State: The first pass catcher off the board bolsters a Seattle offense already featuring WRs DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Smith-Njigba, who had 347 receiving yards in the 2022 Rose Bowl before missing most of last season with a hamstring injury, is a silky smooth weapon out of the slot and should feast given he'll likely start out as the team's No. 3 receiver. And that's three Buckeyes in the top 20 if you're keeping track. Draft tracker
Round 2 (37, from Broncos) — Derick Hall, DE/LB, Auburn: The 'Hawks begin building out the depth of their D-line with a 6-3, 254-pounder who posted 19½ sacks and 29½ tackles for loss over the past three seasons. As a team captain with 4.5 speed he brings good tangible and intangible assets to the Emerald City. Draft tracker
Round 2 (52) — Zach Charbonnet, RB, UCLA: Seattle's reinvesting in its backfield after taking Kenneth Walker III in Round 2 a year ago. Charbonnet (6 feet, 214 pounds, 4.5 speed) led the FBS with 168 all-purpose yards per game in 2022. The Seahawks are starting to get scary on offense. Draft tracker
