Seahawks RB Kenneth Walker III listed as DOUBTFUL for Week 2 vs. Patriots
The Seattle Seahawks are about to take their first road trip of the season this weekend, as they are headed to Foxboro, MA to play the New England Patriots. Both teams are 1-0, with the Seahawks defending home turf against the Denver Broncos and the Patriots upsetting the Cincinnati Bengals on the road.
Seattle engineered a dominant second half comeback to avoid another Week 1 loss like last year, but it looks like an important cog from their victory won't be available to them against New England. Running back Kenneth Walker III is officially listed as DOUBTFUL in Week 2, alongside right tackle George Fant.
Other injury report related matters have linebackers Tyrel Dodson and Jerome Baker listed as QUESTIONABLE. Tight end Pharaoh Brown and linebacker Uchenna Nwosu have already been ruled OUT.
Not having Walker or Fant will be a considerable blow to a Seahawks offense that was wildly inconsistent last week. Walker paved the way with 103 rushing yards and a touchdown to get Seattle going in the second half. As for Fant, his absense would leave an already shaky offensive line even more depleted. The Seahawks did make proper adjustments in the second half to give Smith more protection and open things up on the ground, but it was a rough start for the unit overall.
The Patriots may not be a playoff team this year, but they are still a stout defensive team and can drag opponents down into the mud with them. Offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb will once again have to get creative to help avoid Seattle from losing their first game this season.
