Seahawks announce they will wear throwbacks vs 49ers in Week 6

Finally, the moment we have all been waiting so patiently for this offseason! Or, well, at least uniform obsessors like myself have been.

The Seattle Seahawks announced on Wednesday afternoon they will be wearing their beloved throwback uniform on Week 6 against the San Francisco 49ers. This will be a showdown on Thursday Night Football, marking the third consecutive season these teams have faced off on a Thursday.

The last two Thursday games, the Seahawks have worn their Action Green jerseys. suffering rare losses in those threads. As much as I personally love the Action Greens, it was high time to shake up the uniform combination for this matchup.

The Seahawks wore their throwbacks twice during the 2023 season – the first time they have worn these since 2001. In those games, they were 1-1. Seattle won their first game in the throwbacks, narrowly defeating the Cleveland Browns. The Seahawks raced out to a 17-7 lead in the first quarter, but the offense stalled the remainder of the game until Geno Smith engineered one of his record comeback drives to prevail 24-20 over the Browns.

Unfortunately, Smith and the Seahawks were unable to deliver another comeback win in their next game wearing the throwbacks. Seattle’s defense was unable to slow down the Dallas Cowboys, and they fell 41-35 on the road.

Still, the vibes with these uniforms are immaculate. They are easily among the 12th Man’s favorite, if not THE favorite. Perhaps they will give the Seahawks a little extra boost as they look to snap their current five game losing streak to the 49ers.
