Scooter Gennett makes MLB history with four-homer game
Scooter Gennett must have eaten his Wheaties on Tuesday. Gennett, the Cincinnati Reds utility man, became the 17th player in Major League Baseball history to hit four home runs in a single game, blasting four in a 13-1 win against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Yes, you read that right. Scooter Gennett.

The last player to hit four dingers in a single game was Josh Hamilton, who did so in 2012. Before that, it was Carlos Delgado in 2003. It happened twice in 2002 (Shawn Green and Mike Cameron) but before that? Mark Whiten in 1993. Gennett — who was born in Cincinnati — is the first player in Reds history to accomplish the feat. Safe to say Scooter is never going to forget this one. The Milwaukee Brewers, who put Gennett on waivers in March to be picked up by the Reds, might not either. Same goes for ex-Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips, who just last week said Gennett wearing his old number was a “slap in the face.”
