Royals acquire pitcher Hunter Harvey from Washington Nationals

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Royals are adding another piece to their rotation ahead of the All-Star break and the trade deadline.

The Royals acquired right-handed pitcher Hunter Harvey from Washington Nationals in exchange for Minor League 3rd baseman Cayden Wallace and the 39th pick in the 2024 MLB Draft, ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports.

Four Royals named American League All-Stars

Harvey will add some depth to the Royals bullpen. This season, Harvey is 2-4 in 43 games with a 4.20 ERA, 50 strikeouts and 12 walks in 45 innings pitched.

He was selected with the 22nd pick in the first round of the 2013 MLB Draft by the Baltimore Orioles. He is currently in his sixth season in the MLB.

For his career, he’s 9-11 in 164 games with a 3.20 ERA, 185 strikeouts and 46 walks. The MLB trade deadline is July 30 at 5 p.m. CT
