Defensive stalwart Marcus Smart spent his first nine seasons in the NBA with the Boston Celtics, establishing a reputation for producing gritty, winnings plays in that time. It was this approach to basketball that made Smart a fan-favorite around the Boston area.

Smart was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies during the 2023 NBA offseason, and is set to make his return to the Hub this Sunday, his first match against the Celtics in an opposing uniform. The Texas native will be injured for the game, but there is plenty of buzz regardless. Smart has maintained his friendship with members of the Celtics orbit since the trade, and it’s sure to be an emotional and memorable affair.
