CHICAGO — The last World Series champion who played for the Cubs, Kyle Hendricks, is reportedly headed to the Angels after becoming a free agent.

He has agreed to a one-year deal for $2.5 million, according to multiple reports.

It will be a homecoming for Hendricks, 34. He was raised in the Los Angeles suburb of Newport Beach.

Last offseason, Hoyer and company exercised Hendricks’ player option for 2023 for $16 million.

The results were not as expected as the soft-tosser sported a 5.92 ERA and a 4-12 record.

Hendricks was moved to the bullpen but flashed visions of his old self in September when he returned to starting.

The 2016 ERA leader received a massive standing ovation on Sept. 28 after lot allowing the Reds to score in 7.1 innings.

Hendricks, known as “The Professor” because he went to Dartmouth, was one of the key members of the 2016 staff. He shut down the Dodgers to lead the Cubs to their first National League pennant since 1945.

He was just as clutch starting Game 7 of the World Series, allowing just one run before being pulled for Jon Lester in the 5th inning.

Hendricks finishes his Cubs’ career with a 3.96 ERA and 97 wins in 270 career starts.
