Despite the school’s postseason ban, Kelly Bryant will reportedly stick with Missouri for his senior season.

According to The State and Rivals.com, Bryant has already made it known that he will play his final year in Columbia, despite the decision levied by the NCAA on Thursday. Because a former tutor completed academic coursework for several student-athletes, including three football players, the school was hit with a postseason ban for the 2019-20 season, among other sanctions.

Bryant, who left Clemson early in the team’s national championship-winning season in order to maintain his final year of eligibility, chose Missouri in December after also visiting Auburn, Arkansas, North Carolina and Mississippi State. As part of the postseason ban, the NCAA would allow Bryant — or any other Mizzou senior — to transfer without sitting out a season.

Bryant will succeed Drew Lock at Missouri

With Drew Lock, Missouri’s starter the past four seasons, off to the NFL, Bryant is in line to assume the starting role for the Tigers. Missouri had little experience at quarterback behind Lock, so Bryant was a perfect fit.

Bryant led Clemson to the College Football Playoff in 2017, but struggled in a semifinal loss to Alabama. He began the 2018 season as the starter, but split time with heralded freshman Trevor Lawrence.

Lawrence outperformed Bryant in Week 4 against Georgia Tech, prompting Clemson coach Dabo Swinney to make a change and name Lawrence the starter. Two days later, Bryant announced that he would transfer.

Thanks to a new rule that allows players to play in up to four games and still redshirt, Bryant was able to maintain his final year of eligibility. Because Bryant graduated from Clemson, he is immediately eligible in 2019 at Mizzou.

In 2017, Bryant threw for 2,802 yards, 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions while completing 65.8 percent of his passes. He also rushed for 665 yards and 11 scores. In his four starts in 2018, Bryant threw for 456 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 144 yards and two more scores.

At Missouri, he will get the chance to greatly improve his NFL stock while learning under the same coaches who helped develop Lock into a potential first-round prospect.
