Report: Xavier Musketeers guard Kam Craft enters transfer portal
An offseason expected to be filled with roster changes began just one night after the Musketeers' season ended with a 78-76 loss to Georgia in the first round of the NIT.
Xavier sophomore guard Kam Craft has entered the NCAA's transfer portal, which opened on Monday, according to a report from Travis Branham of 247Sports.
Craft did not appear in a game for the Musketeers this season. The Chicago, Illinois native was considering a medical redshirt after suffering a knee injury in Feb. 2023 during Xavier's run to the Sweet 16. As a freshman, he appeared in 15 games and averaged 2.6 points.
With Xavier expected to have guards Dayvion McKnight and Desmond Claude back next season, plus the arrival of incoming freshman Jonathan Powell and any portal additions, Craft was at the bottom of the pecking order in a talented backcourt.
Craft is the first Musketeer to throw his name in the portal looking for a new opportunity, and he certainly won't be the last as Xavier looks to revamp its team after the program's first losing season in nearly three decades.
