One of the storylines of the summer has surrounded the links between the Golden State Warriors and Utah Jazz surrounding All-Star forward Lauri Markkanen. According to multiple reports, the 27-year-old seven-footer has been a top trade target for the Warriors during the Summer free agency window.

Multiple blockbuster trade packages have been floated throughout the summer. While Golden State has multiple assets including picks and young talented players like Jonatha Kuminga and Moses Moody that could build an intriguing trade package, the are reportedly unwilling to include a certain player in a trade.

According to a recent post on Substack from NBA reporter Marc Stein, the Warriors are unwilling to include soon-to-be sophomore guard Brandin Podziemski. Golden State's offers have yet to include Podziemski or Kuminga, per Stein.

The Warriors, as of Sunday, continued to be regarded as the league’s most ardent Lauri Markkanen suitor … but at the same time still unwilling to surrender Brandin Podziemski in a trade package for the 7-foot Finn. Golden State, to date, has pursued Markkanen without including Podziemski or Jonathan Kuminga in trade packages laden with future draft compensation. Obviously no team, to this point, has met Danny Ainge’s asking price.

Golden State's hesitancy towards trading Podziemski is understandable. The 21-year-old is coming off a season where he earned All-Rookie First Team honors. The former Santa Clara product averaged 9.2 points on 45.4% shooting from the field with 5.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game in his first season in the association.
