Report: Warriors hiring two new assistant coaches to Steve Kerr’s staff
While their roster is set to look dramatically different with the departures of Klay Thompson and Chris Paul, the Golden State Warriors’ coaching staff will also undergo changes.
With Kenny Anderson named the Cleveland Cavaliers’ new head coach, Steve Kerr had an opening on his coaching staff. In the early stages of the offseason, the Warriors reportedly brought in a pair of experienced coaches to fill out Kerr’s staff.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Warriors are planning to hire Terry Stotts as lead assistant and Jerry Stackhouse as another assistant.

Stotts has been coaching in the NBA since 1994, starting as an assistant with the Seattle Supersonics. Stotts has been a head coach three times, with two short stints with the Atlanta Hawks and Milwaukee Bucks. In 2012, Stotts was named head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers. Stotts helped lead the Trail Blazers to the playoffs in eight consecutive seasons. After being eliminated in the first round of the 2021 playoffs, Stotts and the Trail Blazers mutually agreed to part ways. Stotts has also served as an assistant for the Dallas Mavericks and Warriors (2004-05).
Stackhouse played 18 seasons in the NBA, earning two bids to All-Star games in his career. In 2015, Stackhouse joined the Raptors organization as an assistant coach. Stackhouse also spent time as the Raptors 905 G League head coach. In 2018-19, Stackhouse joined the Memphis Grizzlies staff as an assistant before being named the head coach of the Vanderbilt Commodores in the SEC. Stackhouse served as the head coach of Vanderbilt for five seasons.
