Report: ‘unwanted comments’ prompted broader Udoka investigation

Reporting from the Athletic has offered new details about the nature of Ime Udoka’s workplace relationship that led to a year-long suspension by the Boston Celtics. According to the Athletic, what started as a consensual situation may have become more complicated. The report stated the Celtics organization was aware of the relationship in July, and both Udoka and the female staffer described their situation as consensual.  More recently, however, the female staffer “accused Udoka of making unwanted comments towards her,” prompting an internal investigation.

In the team’s official press release announcing Udoka’s suspension, the club cited “violations of team policies” as the grounds for punishment. Likewise, the team suggested Udoka’s future with the club would be decided at a later date.
