Tom Brady, Gisele Bündchen confirm divorce
Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen are divorcing.
Brady confirmed the news Friday morning in an Instagram story after People reported that the couple would file for divorce in Florida the day after Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers fell to 3-5 with a loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
"In recent days, my wife and I finalized our divorce from one another after 13 years of marriage," Brady wrote. "We arrived at this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together. We are blessed with beautiful and wonderful children who will continue to be the center of our world in every way. We will continue to work together as parents to always ensure they receive the love and attention they deserve.
"We arrived at this decision to end our marriage after much consideration."
"Doing so is, of course, painful and difficult, like it is for so many people who go through the same thing every day around the world. However we wish only the best for each other as we pursue whatever new chapters in our lives that are yet to be written."
"And we kindly ask for privacy and respect as we navigate what is to come in the days and weeks ahead. Thank you."
Bündchen also confirmed on her Instagram story:
With much gratitude for our time together, Tom and I have amicably finalized our divorce. My priority has always been and will continue to be our children whom I love with all my heart. We will continue co-parenting to give them the love, care and attention they deserve.
The decision to end a marriage is never easy but we have grown apart and while it is, of course, difficult to go through something like this, I feel blessed for the time we had together and only wish the best for Tom always.
I kindly ask that our privacy be respected during this sensitive time.

The status of Brady and Bündchen’s marriage has been a source of speculation ever since the seven-time Super Bowl winner returned to the NFL. Brady announced his retirement from the NFL during the offseason but reneged on that announcement in the weeks after to return for a 23rd season and third with the Buccaneers.
Brady is set to become an NFL game analyst for Fox Sports whenever his playing career is over. Fox reportedly wants Brady as a part of its Super Bowl coverage this February if the Bucs aren't playing.
Brady and Bündchen reportedly hired divorce lawyers earlier in the month according to the New York Post. That outlet also said that Brady’s 11-day absence from training camp this summer was related to marital issues. When Brady was asked about that absence in August, he famously said, “I’m 45 years old man. There’s a lot of s*** going on.”
Bündchen and Brady married in 2009 and have two children together. She said in an interview published by Elle in September that she wanted Brady to be “more present.”
"Obviously, I have my concerns — this is a very violent sport, and I have my children and I would like him to be more present,” Bündchen told the magazine. “I have definitely had those conversations with him over and over again. But ultimately, I feel that everybody has to make a decision that works for [them]. He needs to follow his joy, too.”
With the Bucs at 3-5 this season, Brady's return to the NFL is not going anything like he envisioned. Thursday night's loss to the Ravens was Tampa Bay's third straight defeat. It's just the second time a team quarterbacked by Brady has lost three games in a row and the first time it's happened since 2002.
