The start of 2024 is really beginning to feel like the end of the 2023 season for the Pittsburgh Steelers and their quarterbacks. NFL reporter Ian Rapoport reported on the NFL Network pregame that the Steelers want to see how Fields does starting against the Denver Broncos on Sunday but if he can lead the team to 2-0, Fields will keep the starting job.

It's nothing new for Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin to ride the hot hand at quarterback. Last season, after Kenny Pickett went down with injury, Tomlin eventually turned to Mason Rudolph who won three in a row down the stretch and kept the starting job, even after Pickett was deemed healthy.

Pittsburgh added Fields and Russell Wilson in the offseason with Wilson holding the pole position to be the starter. A calf strain during the team's conditioning test shelved Wilson for all of training camp and nearly all of the preseason. Fields won Week One against the Atlanta Falcons running the gameplan to a tee. We hope to see offensive coordinator Arthur Smith cut loose a little more this week.
