NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that veteran receiver Brandon Marshall and journeyman Kamar Aiken are the other two receivers invited to work out.
Bryant hasn’t played since last season
Bryant has not played since the Cowboys released him in April, several weeks into free agency. The market had dried up in large part by then, and Bryant has struggled to find work since.
Bryant made overtures to the Cleveland Browns and New England Patriots during the offseason that did not bear results.
Saints thin at WR despite potent passing attack
The Saints have one of the sharpest passing attacks in the NFL that was on full display in Sunday’s shootout win over the Los Angeles Rams. But injuries and a fading Cameron Meredith leave them thin at wide receiver.
The Saints placed Ted Ginn on injured reserve with a lingering knee injury after he played the first four games of the season. Third-round rookie Tre’Quan Smith has started half the games this season opposite of Pro Bowler Michael Thomas.
Meredith, meanwhile, has fallen out of the rotation, tallying nine catches while playing in six of the Saints’ eight games this season. He hasn’t caught a pass in the past three games.
Bryant a good fit for Saints?
Bryant, 30, saw his numbers drop in Dallas when Dak Prescott took over for Tony Romo. If he makes the team and can muster the playmaking abilities he showed in his Pro Bowl prime, an established offense where he isn’t expected to be the star could be a good fit.
It’s an enticing prospect for a lethal offense looking to lead a Super Bowl run.
