Report: Detroit Lions' Frank Ragnow suffered partially torn pec in win over Cardinals

For the Detroit Lions, re-establishing their run-first identity came at a price.

Lions center Frank Ragnow suffered a partially torn pectoral muscle in Sunday's 20-13 win over the Arizona Cardinals, NFL Network reported Monday.

Ragnow, who played all 68 offensive snaps in the game, is week-to-week with the injury.

The Lions lost several key players to injury Sunday. Lions coach Dan Campbell said defensive end Marcus Davenport likely will miss the rest of the season after suffering what ESPN reported was a torn triceps and linebacker Derrick Barnes will be out "a significant amount of time" with a knee injury.

Barnes was injured on a cut block and was carted to the locker room with a towel on his head. Davenport was hurt on a run play one play before the Lions stopped Kyler Murray on a fourth-and-1 rushing attempt.

The Lions still are gathering opinions on both injuries, and Campbell said they won't know if Barnes will be a candidate to return from injured reserve until after he meets with doctors.

WHAT HAPPENED: Police reports shed light on harassment that prompted Lions coach Dan Campbell to move

"It’s the knee, so is he going to need something done other than one of the ligaments and can it scar in, can these ligaments scar in and everything will be good, just needs time?" Campbell said. "We know he’s going to need to be down for a little while while the knee heals. And then once it heals, is it going to need surgery?”

Safety Brian Branch also suffered a brain injury Sunday and is in concussion protocol, and offensive linemen Graham Glasgow and Dan Skipper, cornerback Terrion Arnold and defensive tackle Alim McNeil are among others who left with injury. Campbell indicated all of those players are day-to-day.

Glasgow, who injured his arm in the first half, is the top candidate to take over at center if Ragnow misses time, with Michael Niese or Kayode Awosika likely taking over at left guard.

Glasgow started two games at center last season when Ragnow dealt with knee, ankle and toe injuries.

The Lions host the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football next week, then have their bye week. Both Glasgow and Campbell said Sunday the bye is coming at a welcome time.

"Nobody wants to have an early bye, but we’ve had some physical games here early and it’s after this Monday night game, we’re going to work hard, we’re going to get ready for it, it’s going to be nice," Glasgow said.
