Los Angeles Clippers center Montrezl Harrell is the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year.

Harrell received the award among his teammates Friday inside the NBA bubble. He beat out fellow finalists Dennis Schroder of the Oklahoma City Thunder and teammate Lou Williams for the honor. Schroder finished second in a close vote.

Harrell averaged a career-high 18.6 points and 7.1 rebounds in addition to 1.7 assists and 1.1 blocks coming off the bench for Los Angeles. He’s the Clippers’ primary option in the paint despite backing up Ivica Zubac, who averaged 8.3 points and 7.5 rebounds. Harrell also played roughly nine minutes more per game than Zubac.

Williams denied a 4th Sixth Man award

The honor is Harrell’s first and prevents Williams from winning the award a fourth time. Williams averaged 18.2 points and 5.6 assists off the Clippers bench this season. Having two finalists for the award speaks to the Clippers’ tremendous depth and is a reason they’re among the favorites to win the championship this season.

Schroder averaged 18.9 points and four assists for the Thunder as they made a surprise run to the playoffs that ended in a Game 7 loss to the Houston Rockets on Wednesday.
