Report: Bucks trade Tony Snell, 1st-round pick to Pistons for Jon Leuer

The Milwaukee Bucks have traded Tony Snell and the 30th pick in Thursday’s NBA draft to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for Jon Leuer, ESPN reports.

Snell, a 27-year-old 6-7 wing, played in 74 games for the Bucks last season, averaging six points and 2.1 rebounds while shooting 39.7 percent from 3-point distance.

Leuer, a 30-year-old 6-10 forward, played in 41 games for the Pistons, averaging 3.8 points and 2.4 rebounds. With the deal, the Pistons how have the 15th and 30th picks in the first round of the draft.

The Bucks are faced with several pending free agents this summer and are looking to clear salary cap space. All-Star guard Khris Middleton reportedly plans to opt out of his $13 million option for next season and will command a max deal on the free agent market.

Malcolm Brogdon, Brook Lopez and Nikola Mirotic will all be free agents after playing key roles for Milwaukee as it compiled the NBA’s best record.

According to the report, the deal affords the Bucks an additional $4 million in cap space next season and gets the $12 million Snell is owed the following season off their books.
