Redskins' Montae Nicholson arrested, charged with assault and public drunkenness
Washington Redskins safety Montae Nicholson has been arrested by police in Loudoun County, Virginia, for an assault that took place on early Tuesday morning.
According to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (via the Loudoun Times-Mirror), police were called to the One Loudon retail and residential development around 2 a.m. to break up a fight. The victims, a man and a woman, told police that it started when Nicholson, 23, and his companion, a woman named Sydney Maggiore, drove up next to their car and began honking the horn. A verbal altercation ensued, which turned into a physical fight.
Police determined that Nicholson assaulted the man and Maggiore assaulted both the man and the woman. Maggiore may have used a bottle as a weapon. Both victims were taken to the hospital but the injuries were not life threatening.
Nicholson has been charged with assault and battery, and with public drunkenness. He was released on $2,500 bail. Maggiore was charged with malicious wounding and assault and battery. She was not granted bail and is still being held.
The Redskins are aware of the arrest, and have released a statement.
