Reactions to Texas men's basketball's game-winner over Baylor: 'Tyrese Hunter is HIM'
The Texas men's basketball team's season was saved by Tyrese Hunter's mad dash to the basket.
The Longhorns were coming off of a tough loss to UCF in which they blew a 15 points lead. It looked like they might be in for another heartbreak on Saturday after Jalen Bridges tied it 73-73 with only 5 seconds left in Moody Center. Right after the make, Hunter dashed down the court and while falling away, put up the game winner to beat Baylor 75-73. Hunter led Texas with 21 points while Dylan Disu was the second leading scorer at 19.
The Bears were led by potential NBA draft lottery pick Ja'Kobe Walter, who collected 22 points on five of 12 shooting. The win keeps the Longhorns afloat in the Big 12 at 2-3 instead of falling to 1-4 in conference. Now at 13-5 overall, they'll be traveling north to Norman next to face off with Oklahoma in a marquee matchup.
Here are some reactions to Texas' game-winner.
Crossroads game for Texas today. I'm fully expecting the Longhorns to play their best game of the year and beat Baylor.

Texas is 9 for 11 from three in the first half and only leads Baylor by 1. That's a problem.

#Baylor and #Texas are a combined 8 of 11 (72.7%!!!) from deep so far.

Tyrese Hunter! No 3s in the second half, doesn’t matter. His last second shot after a Baylor 3 gives Texas the win, 75-73. #HookEm pic.twitter.com/32pdoLQyOV

I told @MatthewBrune_ that Texas' backcourt depth isn't good enough for Chendall Weaver not to be playing more. He finished the game thanks to his defense and hustle plays.

This team is capable of SO MUCH when they’re firing on all cylinders!
So can we pump the brakes on the “sky is falling” narrative now? ☺️#HookEm https://t.co/aPuCD1YpRl— Fancy Boots (@TexasFancyBoots) January 20, 2024
