Dallas Cowboys lose to Baltimore Ravens, 28-25: Score-by-score updates

The Baltimore Ravens ran out to an early lead Sunday and were able to hold on late against the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium.

Baltimore (1-2) took an early advantage and extended it the second quarter before the half closed. Dallas (1-2) was looking for a bounce-back performance following a poor showing in Week 2 but went into halftime down 21-6.

Lamar Jackson started off completing 10 of his 11 passing attempts for 161 passing yards and one touchdown pass. He finished 12-for-15 for 182 yards. Dak Prescott and the Cowboys offense struggled to find any rhythm and went without a touchdown throughout the first two quarters. But a 19-point fourth quarter for Dallas made it a one-score game.

Jackson and the Ravens were able to run out the clock, though, leaving the Cowboys with a second straight home loss. Prescott finished the game 28-for-51 for 379 yards and two touchdowns.

Cowboys vs. Ravens updates

Q4, 2:53 — Cowboys flip momentum completely

For almost three-and-a-half quarters, it looked as if the Cowboys had no chance in this game. All that changed when the Cowboys scored three touchdowns on three consecutive drives. The third of which came from the arm of Prescott to wide receiver KaVontae Turpin for 16 yards. Dallas finds themselves down by three, with a defensive stop and a score needed to finish the comeback. 28-25, Ravens.

Q4, 7:07 — Dallas begins to mount a comeback

Aided by an onside kick recovery, Dallas drove down the field and cut into the lead once again. Prescott found wide receiver Jalen Tolbert for a 15-yard touchdown strike, followed by an unsuccessful 2-point conversion attempt to cut the lead to 28-18.

Q4, 8:53 — Cowboys add a touchdown to cut into the deficit

It took until deep into the fourth quarter to happen, but the Cowboys were finally able to score a touchdown. The offense sustained a six-play, 64-yard drive that was capped off by a one1yard quarterback keeper by Prescott. They failed on the 2-point conversion try, bringing their deficit to 28-12.

Q3, 11:58 — Dallas continues to get beat on the ground

Coming out of the half, the hope for Dallas is finding a way to stop the bleeding after another ugly half of football. But the Ravens continued the onslaught on the ground. This time, Henry cashes in from 26 yards out to extend Baltimore's lead to 28-6.

End of 1st half — Ravens 21, Cowboys 6

Cowboys' kicker Brandon Aubrey added three points with 2 seconds left in the half to cut the lead down going into the locker room. However, it has been more of the same for the Cowboys following a poor showing against the Saints in Week 2, as they have struggled to make plays on offense, come up with stops on defense, and hurt themselves with penalties.

Q2, :25 — Cowboys continue to be outmatched

Following a first quarter that saw three scoring drives, the second quarter was far less explosive on the offensive side of the ball. The Ravens were able to cash in once more with under 30 seconds left in the half, capping off an eight-play 88-yard drive with a 13-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Rashod Bateman to push their lead to 21-3.

Q1, 2:41 — The trend continues for Cowboys defense

At this point, the Cowboy's defense is against the ropes, struggling. Fresh off a drive that saw them gashed to open the game, they're gashed with a similar result. This time, it was a long catch-and-run that ended with Derrick Henry capping off a seven-play, 70-yard drive from 1-yard out to extend their lead.

Q1, 6:33 — Brandon Aubrey nails record field goal

The talented Cowboys kicker saved a stalled drive with a 65-yard field goal, the longest in team history. Aubrey's kick was just 1 yard short of tying the league record. Dallas pulls the score to 7-3.

Q1,9:36 — More of the same for the Cowboys defense

New week, new opponent, same old 2024 Cowboys defense. After punting on their first offensive drive, the Dallas defense allowed Lamar Jackson and the Ravens offense to march down the field for a five-play, 71-yard drive capped off by a 9-yard Jackson touchdown run.

Ravens vs. Cowboys predictions

NFL.com: A majority taking the Ravens over the Cowboys. It appears to those at NFL.com believe the battle between Baltimore and Dallas could be close, but it will take some time for the Cowboys to earn their trust back after last week's performance. Of the five predictions, everyone had the game within one score one way or another, but just two people selected the Cowboys to win.

USA TODAY: A majority taking the Cowboys over the Ravens. The USA TODAY staff appears to be much more in the Cowboys' favor, with three of their four selections leaning in Dallas' direction. Again, however, they all believe it will be a close game, with the widest margin of victory selected to be three points.

Tony Catalina, Austin American-Statesman: Cowboys bounce back.

No team that has ever started 0-3 has ever gone on to win a Super Bowl, and the Ravens head into Dallas with that fact looming large. For the Cowboys, it's hard not to call them pretenders right now when they can go out and play the way they did last week.

In past seasons under Mike McCarthy, Dak Prescott, and Co. have proven to respond well to adversity after a big loss, going 12-2 in such scenarios since 2021. They will need to do so again on Sunday if they want to avoid falling below .500.

It'll be a close game, with both teams exchanging blows throughout, but Dallas has a bad taste in its mouth, and that feeling of embarrassment may be enough to put them over the top in this one. Cowboys, 27-23.
