Raptors trade OG Anunoby to Knicks for package that includes RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley
Precious Achiuwa will be joining Anunoby in heading to New York
The Toronto Raptors and New York Knicks finalized a big deal on Saturday afternoon.
OG Anunoby, Malachi Flynn and Precious Achiuwa are heading to the Knicks for a package that includes RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley and New York's second-round pick in 2024.
The 26-year-old Anunoby has spent his entire seven-season NBA career with the Raptors after being drafted 23rd overall in 2017. Through 27 games this season he's averaging 15.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. He was part of Toronto's championship team in 2019 and was named to the NBA All-Defensive second team in 2022-23 after leading the league in steals.
Barrett, 23 and a Toronto native, was third on the Knicks in scoring at 18.2 points per game. He was also averaging 2.4 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game through 26 games. Barrett is in his fifth season with the Knicks, who drafted the swingman from Duke with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.
Quickley, meanwhile, has been productive off the bench, averaging 15 points per game and shooting 39.5% from 3-point range. He finished second in Sixth Man of the Year voting last season behind winner Malcolm Brogdon. Quickley was drafted 25th overall in the first round in 2020.

Anunoby, who wasn't expected to sign an extension in Toronto, has a $19.93 million player option this summer and could be a top NBA free agent if he declines it. This gives both the player and team time to get to know one another before talking contract details.
The Knicks are currently 17-14 and seventh in the Eastern Conference. Toronto sits at 12-19, two games outside a play-in tournament spot.
