Randy Gregory, Oday Aboushi each suspended for spat after Rams' blowout win over Broncos

Following their brief altercation at the end of the Rams' 51-14 demolition of the Broncos, Denver defensive end Randy Gregory and Los Angeles guard Oday Aboushi have each been suspended one game without pay.

The NFL announced the suspension Monday afternoon in a statement, indicating that vice president of football operations Jon Runyan handed down the discipline.

“As you were walking toward a group of teammates, coaches, and media, you both stopped and swung at each other’s head and/or neck," Runyan wrote in letters addressed to Gregory and Aboushi. "Your aggressive conduct could have caused serious injury and clearly does not reflect the high standards of sportsmanship expected of a professional.”

Both players will have the right to appeal their suspensions. If they chose to do so, the appeals would be heard by the disciplinary officers jointly appointed by the NFL and the NFL Players Association, Derrick Brooks or James Thrash.

After the game, Gregory and Aboushi got into it on the field during postgame handshakes. Gregory was in Aboushi’s ear as the two were walking among the crowd, and after Aboushi shook another Broncos player’s hand, they got in each other’s face.

Gregory threw a punch at Aboushi’s helmet, and Aboushi retaliated with a punch of his own. The players were then separated, with Bobby Wagner and others stepping in to clean things up. The scuffle even spilled into Baker Mayfield’s postgame interview, though that was after Gregory and Aboushi were separated.

Here’s a look at what happened after the game. You can see Gregory and Aboushi in the top-left of the screen and the first punch is thrown at the 9-second mark.

Not exactly the way you want to end a game on Christmas Day.

Gregory and Aboushi will each be eligible to return to their teams' active rosters January 2. Gregory will miss Denver's Week 17 game against the Kansas City Chiefs and Aboushi will miss the Rams' game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
