Providence coach Ed Cooley rips pants, continues coaching in Big East title game
Villanova survived a late scare against Providence in the Big East championship game on Saturday, beating the Friars 76-66 in overtime at Madison Square Garden.
Though Providence coach Ed Cooley — who is known as a very active coach — may have got a little too into the game.
Cooley ripped his pants in the back in the second half of the game, and was forced to wear a Gatorade sweat towel around his waist for the rest of the contest.

Yes, you read that right. The Providence coach actually ripped his pants, and continued coaching with a towel (or two?) around his waist.

Ed Cooley's pants have ripped, currently being covered with a Gatorade towel tucked inside the back of his pants.
Talk about showing some serious intensity in a game!

“When I sat down I felt a great breeze in the crack,” Cooley said following the game, after changing into a black-and-white Providence jumpsuit.
Villanova coach Jay Wright said he didn’t even realize it had happened until he was up on stage receiving the Big East trophy after the game and someone mentioned it to him.
“I don’t know what I would do, man,” Wright said. “I think I would try to fake it like it didn’t happen and hold my coat over it, I think. Thank God I haven’t had that yet.”
So while Cooley certainly gave it his best effort, it still wasn’t enough to give Providence the Big East tournament title.
