It’s no secret that the U.S. has been incredibly dominant at the Olympic games. So much so that the country’s overall medal count in all summer and winter games ? 2,707 ? is more than the third (Germany), fourth (Great Britain) and fifth (France) countries on that list combined. (Note: Soviet Union has the second most with 1,204 medals, but given that it’s not longer a recognized country it wasn’t included in that comparison.) But in spite of all the overwhelming success, there are indeed some sports void of American victories. For some it’s only a matter of time before an American sits atop the podium. And for others, it may be much longer before we see the same.
