Philadelphia Phillies end Dollar Dog Night promotion, replace it with BOGO night
The Philadelphia Phillies, trying to have a "positive experience for all fans in attendance," have decided to replace Dollar Dog Night with Hatfield Phillies Franks BOGO Nights.
After a 27-year run of Dollar Dog Night, the Phillies are offering fans the ability to buy one hot dog and get another for free. The cost of a hot dog at Citizens Bank Park is $5.
The BOGO nights are:
Tuesday, April 2, vs. Cincinnati Reds at 6:40 p.m.
Tuesday, April 16, vs. Colorado Rockies at 6:40 p.m.
Last year during Dollar Dog Night, a food fight broke out at Citizens Bank Ballpark and was caught on social media. Phillies fans were caught on social media holding a food fight with hot dogs.

The ending of the beloved promotion did not sit well as fans took to social media.
More proof that the economy is not getting better. Dollar Dog nights were always a big draw at CBP. THANKS @JoeBiden pic.twitter.com/6ySifPlewL

The hardest goodbyes are the ones you don’t see coming. RIP dollar dog night. Forever in my heart. pic.twitter.com/GFqqkOc2Wp

Some fans were understanding of Phillies' move and blamed rowdy fans for the decision.
If you’re blaming the Phillies for this dollar dog night thing, you’re just dumb. Stupid drunk fans couldn’t control themselves and ruined it for everyone. The Phillies had no choice after that shit. I think it’s a good compromise.

I love a dollar dog night, but people ruined it last year by throwing them in the crowd and onto the field. It’ll definitely be a better fan experience to not get hit in the head with a hot dog mid-game.

If you're upset dollar dog night is gone, it's because you never went to dollar dog night. It was awful https://t.co/5D8eJPlROh

Of course, others were just pleased not to be tempted by gluttony.
worst heart burn i ever had was after eating 9 dollar dogs in a half inning back in 2008. Still haunts me to this day.
