Peyton Manning on LSU football's Garrett Nussmeier: 'I'll really enjoy watching him'
Garrett Nussmeier is finally ready to take over as LSU football's starting quarterback, and the redshirt junior got an endorsement from one of the greatest quarterbacks in football history.
Speaking at his family's Manning Passing Academy in Thibodaux on Friday, Peyton Manning was high on Nussmeier.
"We've been in communication. He was at our camp last year. He's great with the kids," said Manning. "I really enjoyed watching him play in that bowl game last year, and I'll really enjoy watching him this year."
Nussmeier made his first college start in the Tigers' Reliaquest Bowl win against Wisconsin in January. In that game, he threw for 395 yards and three touchdowns on his way to being named offensive MVP. He's the presumptive starter for LSU in 2024, following last year's Heisman winner, Jayden Daniels, entering the NFL.
