Patty Gasso statue donations, football contracts highlight OU Board of Regents agenda

The OU Board of Regents will consider approving donations for softball coach Patty Gasso’s statue during its meeting Tuesday.

The statue was first announced on June 10 and Sooners athletic director Joe Castiglione has since said it will be unveiled later this season outside Gate 1 at Love’s Field. Gasso has led the Sooners to seven national titles in 29 seasons in Norman and has reached the Women’ College World series 16 times.

The regents will also consider the contract of new OU defensive coordinator Zac Alley and raises for defensive line coach Todd Bates and offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh.

Bates’ likely raise was reported by 247Sports on Feb. 29 and he’ll reportedly make about $900,000 a year, up from $700,000. Bedenbaugh’s contract was previously extended in January through Jan. 2026 with a raise from $820,000 to $870,000.

The agenda highlighted updates and future projects for the Gaylord Family — Oklahoma Memorial Stadium Master Plan, which includes future work of concourses and seating, handrails, technology improvements, game day operations and press facilities.

It also includes space for athletics administration and related operations, the demolition of the existing press box structure and construction of a new west addition that will include significantly improved patron and fan amenities, along with field lighting improvements.

The regents’ public meeting is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at OU.
