Patrick Mahomes says brother shouldn't have poured water on Ravens fan, but alludes to 'things said'
The Baltimore Ravens defeated the Kansas City Chiefs last weekend, and some took it better than others.
Jackson Mahomes, the younger brother of Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes, was caught on video reacting to taunts from a group of Ravens fans immediately after the loss by pouring a bottle of water on one of them before walking away.
The younger Mahomes' initial defense: "They were thirsty."

That water-pouring earned Jackson Mahomes some attention on social media the next day, racking up millions of views across Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and the rest. Days later, Patrick was asked about the matter after Chiefs practice on Wednesday.
The former MVP conceded that his brother shouldn't have poured water on the Ravens fan, but alluded to "things said" between the two parties as well his wife, Brittany Matthews, that weren't seen on the video.
From the Kansas City Star:
“Yeah, I mean, obviously it’s something that we don’t want to necessarily do,” Mahomes said. “There was things said to him, and Brittany, that you don’t see kind of on the clip. But, I mean he’s been good at it, at not trying to respond to that stuff.
“He takes a lot and he’s usually pretty good at it, and he’ll learn from it and just try to stay away from those people as best he can.”
While family members of athletes obviously shouldn't retaliate physically when heckled by fans, it's also not hard to imagine some bad fan behavior frustrated the 21-year-old Jackson. It's been something of a theme this year.
Both Kansas City mayor Quinton Lucas and Jackson's sister-in-law reacted as if that was the case, with Lucas calling for Jackson to be left alone and Matthews endorsing the message.

The only thing clearly heard on the video before the water-pouring was a Ravens fan saying, "I'm so sorry for you." The fan also didn't seem too bothered by the water, as he immediately started yelling "Let's go!" while the Kansas City group walked away.
