Beverley's comments occurred during the press conference after the win. Beverley spoke passionately about beating his former team. Beverley spent his previous four seasons with the Clippers.
When asked what he told his former teammates, Beverley responded, "Take their ass home. Long flight to LA, take your ass home."
Beverley went into more detail on why he was so demonstrative after the win.
"It's deeper than that for me," Beverley said. "I gave my blood and sweat and tears to that organization ... to just be written off like that, 'Oh, he's injury prone, he's old...' To be able to come here, play them in the play-in, beat their ass, no other feeling, man. No other feeling."
Beverley was also fined for his "egregious use of profanity." Prior to the "beat their ass" comment, Beverley dropped an f-bomb, telling the media, "I f***ing told y'all" the Timberwolves would make the playoffs.
Beverley reacted to the fine with a face palm emoji.
