Panthers reportedly request interview with Bucs WR coach Brad Idzik for OC job

Now that the Carolina Panthers have their new head coach in Dave Canales, they might be trying to bring over one of his best buds to help him out.

According to JC Allen of BucsGameday, the Panthers have requested permission to interview Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receivers coach Brad Idzik for their offensive coordinator job. Idzik spent the 2023 season working alongside Canales—who was, of course, the team’s offensive coordinator.

The relationship between the two dates back to their days with the Seattle Seahawks, where they shared a sideline for the previous four years. That time period, from 2019 to 2022, saw Canales serve as the quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator with Idzik taking up roles as the assistant wide receivers coach, the assistant quarterbacks coach and an offensive quality control coach.

Per the Panthers’ official release regarding Canales’ hiring from last night, the 42-year-old is expected to call the plays on offense.
