Panthers reportedly interviewing Dave Canales, Raheem Morris on Wednesday
The Carolina Panthers have a big Wednesday ahead of them.
As first reported by ESPN senior NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler and NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the team will be holding in-person interviews today for head-coaching candidates Dave Canales and Raheem Morris. This will be the second chat with the organization for each man.
Canales has reportedly become a “serious contender” for the position, particularly following Monday’s promotion of new president of football operations and general manager Dan Morgan. Morgan and Canales spent eight seasons together with the Seattle Seahawks, with the former starting as a scouting intern and the latter as a wide receivers coach in 2010.
Since then, Canales has shot up the ranks—going on to serve as Seattle’s quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator. He just wrapped up his first season as an offensive coordinator with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Morris, who has three years of experience as a full-time head coach, has spent the last three seasons as the defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams. He went 17-31 while leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2009 to 2011.
The Panthers, according to Joe Person of The Athletic, interviewed another one of their second-stage candidates in defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero on Monday.
