The Bryce Young era of Carolina Panthers football might already be over.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported on Monday that the Panthers intend to start veteran quarterback Andy Dalton going ahead and will sit the former first-overall pick out of Alabama.

Carolina got off to a dispiriting 0-2 start after going 2-16 the year before, Young's rookie season that saw his first offensive coaching staff fired and replaced since he joined the Panthers in spring 2023.

We do not see franchises make moves like this with first-overall picks often, which further solidifies what a sad development this is out of Charlotte.

After entering the franchise with such promise, Young may not start another game for the Panthers.

Of course, a report of this magnitude shocked NFL fans.
