We could see a lot of Jake Luton and Jack Plummer this preseason.

Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales hit the lectern to chat with reporters following his team's latest session of training camp on Monday. And with the injuries piling up on the roster, he was asked if there is a possibility that starting quarterback Bryce Young doesn't appear at all in exhibition play.

"There could be," he replied. "I keep going back and forth with that because there's some value to just allowing him to play with Austin [Corbett]. And then there's also the flip-side of it, which we know. We're counting on those guys and that's another approach, too."

The Panthers are already without backup quarterback Andy Dalton, who is expected to be sidelined for a few weeks due to a quad injury. As some insurance, the team brought back Luton—who spent last summer with Carolina.

Young himself was then asked about the prospect of not playing this preseason.

"Yeah, I trust in Coach," he said. "Whatever it is that he says, I'll listen to that. I trust in him and the staff just like in all the stuff we've been doing. So, yeah, whatever he says."

Carolina begins preseason play on Thursday, when they travel up north to face the New England Patriots.
