Panthers hire Joe Gilbert as OL coach
The Carolina Panthers have found their replacement for James Campen.
On Tuesday, the team announced the addition of new offensive line coach Joe Gilbert. The 59-year-old is one of four offensive assistants who were officially hired by the Panthers and head coach Dave Canales on the night.
Gilbert started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at the University of Albany back in 1987. He go on to make a number of stops throughout the college ranks—with runs at the University of Pennsylvania, Northeastern University, the University of Maine, Mansfield University, the University of Toledo, the University of Central Florida, the University of Houston and the University of Illinois.
His NFL coaching career kicked off in 2012, as the assistant offensive line coach for the Indianapolis Colts. He’d be promoted to offensive line coach in 2013, but bumped back down to assistant in 2016.
The Arizona Cardinals then came calling in 2018, hiring Gilbert as their offensive line coach and run game coordinator for one season.
He then moved on to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he was the offensive line coach from 2019 to 2023.
