Pacers reportedly trade Buddy Hield to 76ers for Furkan Korkmaz, Marcus Morris, three 2nd-round picks
The Philadelphia 76ers, who lost MVP favorite Joel Embiid to meniscus surgery for at least a month, have acquired sharpshooter Buddy Hield from the Indiana Pacers, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Sixers are sending homegrown wing Furkan Korkmaz, the expiring contract of Marcus Morris, three second-round picks and $1.5 million in cash to Indiana, the Philadelphia Inquirer's Keith Pompey reported.
In a transaction just before Thursday's deadline, the Pacers flipped Morris and a 2029 second-round pick to the San Antonio Spurs for veteran wing Doug McDermott, according to Yahoo Sports' Jake Fischer. Indiana also traded a 2024 second-round pick to the Golden State Warriors for reserve guard Cory Joseph.
The Spurs are expected to waive Morris, per The Athletic's Shams Charania.
Hield is a free agent at the end of the season and is expected to be one of the top players on the market. Embiid could miss the entirety of the regular season, and Hield's shooting should help sustain the 76ers' offense until the playoffs. He has averaged 15.7 points on 40.1% 3-point shooting in his eight-year career.
Hield's expiring contract also will not prevent the Sixers from creating maximum salary cap space in July.
The Sixers have been slumping since late last month, losing seven of their last eight outings and falling to fifth place in the East. They are winless in three games since Embiid went down with a knee injury. If they can't right the ship, they'll be flirting with the play-in tournament, a precipitous fall from a promising start.
