Pacers’ Buddy Hield admits he thought he fouled Jaylen Brown in controversial Indy win
Even the guy who Jaylen Brown thinks fouled him at the end of the Boston Celtics’ contentious loss to the Indiana Pacers on Monday thinks he fouled the Georgia native. Indiana’s Buddy Hield reportedly told Boston head coach Joe Mazzulla that he thought that he’d fouled Brown on a call that would be overturned, potentially handing the Pacers the win. Asked about that brief exchange postgame, Hield replied via CLNS Media that “I told Joe what I told Joe.”
The Bahamanian sharpshooter qualified his response by saying “(the NBA has) three refs out there, and they had the replay center” with their eyes on the play in question, shifting the blame to the officials, if there was blame to be had.
“I thought I might have hit him a little bit, but they have three refs out there, and they have cameras, and they got to slow down the angles of it.”

“I know I touched the ball, but I maybe nicked Brown in the head a little bit,” offered Hield. “I’m not too sure, but it’s the end of the game,” he continued, noting that the referees’ decision was final, faulted or not.
Little comfort for Celtics fans and Brown in particular.
