OU women's basketball's Skylar Vann wins Big 12 Co-Player of the Year
OU was well-represented in the All-Big 12 women's basketball awards, which were announced on Tuesday.
Senior forward Skylar Vann was named the Big 12 Co-Player of the Year, which she shared with Texas' Madison Booker. Vann is averaging career highs of 15 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.
Junior guard Payton Verhulst also received Newcomer of the Year honors and joined Vann on the All-Big 12 first team. The Louisville transfer is averaging career highs of 12.7 points, 5.9 rebounds and four assists.
Jennie Baranczyk was named the Big 12 Coach of the Year. She has led the No. 19-ranked Sooners to a 21-8 (15-3 Big 12) record and a regular-season conference championship in her third season at the helm.
Senior guard Nevaeh Tot and freshman forward Sahara Williams also received an All-Big 12 honorable mention along with OSU junior guard Gret Asi. Cowgirls guard Stailee Heard made the All-Big 12 freshman team.
Numerous players with in-state ties also received recognition. Texas' Aaliyah Moore (Moore) made the All-Big 12 second team along with West Virginia's Jordan Harrison (Classen SAS), who also made the All-Big 12 Defensive Team.
Baylor's Darianna Littlepage-Buggs (Classen SAS), Kansas' Holly Kersgieter (Charles Page) and Kansas State's Gabby Gregory (Holland Hall Prep), who's an OU transfer, earned All-Big 12 honorable mentions.
