OU softball beats Central Arkansas to wrap up sweep of Cowgirl Challenge

OU softball kept rolling right along, beating Central Arkansas 8-0 in five innings to finish up a sweep through the Cowgirl Challenge in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

The Sooners extended their NCAA-record winning streak to 62 games with their five-game sweep through the event to improve to 9-0 on the season.

OU hasn’t lost since Feb. 19, 2023.

The Sooners broke the game open with a five-run third to jump ahead 7-0.

Alyssa Brito delivered an RBI double before Riley Ludlam followed with an RBI single.

Then Tiare Jennings followed with a two-run homer to center, the 77th of her career.

Jennings now has 253 RBIs on the season, moving within one of tying Lauren Chamberlain for second place in OU career history.

Jennings’ home run drove Central Arkansas starting pitcher Bailie Runner, a former Oklahoma State pitcher, from the game.

Three batters later, freshman Ella Parker belted a no-doubt homer to center for her first career home run.

The Sooners got the scoring started in the second on Cydney Sanders’ two-run single to drive home Jennings and Kinzie Hansen.

Jayda Coleman drew a bases-loaded walk in the fifth to end the game.Redshirt freshman SJ Geurin, who made her OU debut the day before in a win over McNeese State, came on in relief of starter Paytn Monticelli and was excellent, retiring all eight batters she faced before giving way to Kelly Maxwell.
