NORMAN — The OU softball team promoted JT Gasso, son of head coach Patty Gasso, to associate head coach on Monday.

JT Gasso spent the past eight seasons as an assistant coach for OU. His primary responsibilities were working with outfielders and hitters.

During Gasso's time on the staff, OU has won seven Big 12 regular season titles, four Big 12 Tournament titles and five national championships.

OU went 61-1 (18-0 Big 12) last season and won a third straight national title. It'll enter the 2024 season on a 53-game winning streak that's the longest in Division I softball history.

OU begins its campaign with the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. It'll face Utah Valley and Duke on Feb. 8 at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
