OU softball run-rules Central Arkansas with nine-run fourth inning at Cowgirl Challenge

Nicole May allowed one hit and the top-ranked Oklahoma Sooners used a nine-run fourth inning to roll past Central Arkansas 9-0 in five innings Friday afternoon in Lake Charles, La.

The OU softball team got off to slow start in its opener at the Cowgirl Classic, but all the Sooners needed was one inning to knock out the Bears (2-5).

After a pair of RBI singles got OU on the board in the fourth, Rylie Boone hit a two-run triple and Avery Hodge followed with an RBI triple of her own to break the game open.

May (2-0) had six strikeouts in four innings to earn the win.

The Sooners (5-0) will face McNeese State at 6 p.m. Friday (ESPN+).
