OU softball coach Patty Gasso reacts to Jordy Bahl's season-ending injury: 'It’s horrible'

At the airport coming back from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, the OU softball team spent some quality time with an old friend.

Jordy Bahl, now at Nebraska, came over to hang out with her former teammates.

Bahl, who transferred to Nebraska after leading the Sooners to a Women’s College World Series title last season, suffered a season-ending injury in Puerto Vallarta.

“There’s still the memories,” Sooners coach Patty Gasso said Tuesday. “The last memory they had was singing on stage with Toby Keith and that’s something they will cherish — especially now — forever.”

The Sooners had scouts watching the game where Bahl suffered a season-ending ACL tear.

“They saw it and they knew something wasn’t going to be good,” Gasso said. “Jordy, I think she was walking around and you thought maybe it’s just a sprain or something. But she’s so strong that her legs can maintain her kneecap. … When you get your ACL torn you are in massive pain and you’re not able to really walk so it was pretty amazing how she was just kind of moving around.

“It’s horrible for anybody really. … you wish her well.”
