OU softball adds Liberty ace Karlie Keeney via transfer portal
NORMAN — OU softball added to its stacked roster with the commitment of Liberty transfer Karlie Keeney on Friday.
Keeney dominated inside the circle last season. The right-handed junior went 27-12 with a 2.03 ERA in 261⅔ innings pitched.
Keeney went a combined 64-24 with a 2.23 ERA in 587 innings pitched during her three seasons with Liberty. She now joins an OU team that hopes to earn its fourth straight national championship under the leadership of head coach Patty Gasso.
“Thank you to Coach Gasso and the entire staff for this opportunity,” Keeney said via an Instagram post. “Can’t wait to get to work.”
Keeney is familiar with the Sooners. Liberty opened last season with a 1-0 loss to OU, but Keeney didn’t surrender any earned runs in seven impressive innings.
OU continues to bolster its pitching group following the departure of Jordy Bahl, who transferred to Nebraska on June 15. The Sooners have added Keeney along with Paytn Monticelli, who transferred from Wisconsin on July 5.
