OU softball adds BYU infielder Ailana Agbayani via transfer portal

NORMAN — It was a bit of a shock when OU infielder Avery Hodge announced her transfer to LSU, leaving the Sooners with a middle infield need.

Head coach Patty Gasso didn’t take long finding a replacement as BYU transfer Ailana Agbayani committed to OU on Tuesday.

Agbayani hit .424 with five home runs, a .534 on-base percentage and a .594 slugging percentage for the Cougars in 2024. She also held a 5.78 ERA as a pitcher in 2024, striking out 17 in 23 innings.

Agbayani will likely play shortstop for the Sooners. Agbayani is Gasso’s third transfer portal commit in four days, leaving two more roster spots to fill. Agbayani joins North Carolina catcher Isabela Emerling and Utah outfielder Abby Dayton as Sooner portal commits.

Agbayani finished with four hits — including two doubles — and two RBIs in a win over the Sooners on April 12.

Agbayani will have two years of eligibility remaining.
